Best Place to Have a Baby in Collin County
Medical City Plano as the Best Place to Have a Baby in Collin County for 2019.
We deliver dreams.
This is a special time for you. It’s important. It’s a moment you will remember for the rest of your life. That’s why our maternity care team takes such great care in meeting every need you have. Your care, your comfort and your privacy. It’s all vital.
But that’s just one element of your time here. We also give you a huge role in planning your birthing experience. At Medical City Plano, your birth plan is our game plan. We’ll deliver that magical moment you’ll remember forever.
It’s not just childbirth. It’s childbirth the way YOU want it.
A luxurious, private postpartum room or a magnificent suite? Your favorite music during the delivery? A doula at your bedside? Prenatal yoga classes? Breastfeeding and pumping education? Professional photos of you and your baby? It’s completely up to you. Just let us know how you want to design your experience, and we will make it happen.
Here, you choose your experience. But our clinical excellence is mandatory.
You want comfort. And you want safety. Whether your pregnancy is routine or complicated with risk factors, we're fully prepared for anything. Our expert team of nurses, obstetricians and other specialty physicians will guide you through a comfortable and safe delivery. Our deep experience includes receiving high-risk transfer patients from outside our service area who need specialized care. With the latest technology and a complete team of specialty physicians, including pulmonologists, cardiologists, perinatologists and more, we minimize complications for a successful birth.
We are also home to the first Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) in Collin County. Two neonatologists are on-site 24/7, and our pediatric surgeons can perform some procedures at your baby’s bedside. We also promote family bonding and support through a variety of outreaches, including support groups and "date night" for NICU parents.
It’s not simply luxury. It’s the amenities you want.
Our postpartum care includes the full red-carpet treatment for new moms. After delivery, recover in one of our plush, hotel-like postpartum rooms or suites, with comforting touches and the amenities you and your baby want. Your family can start with a gourmet celebratory meal, then enjoy our Dine on Demand food options.
Our luxury suites include memory-foam beds, luxury baths for mom and separate bedrooms and lounge areas with a kitchenette for guests.
We have amenities for your baby, too, with a professional photographer available for baby’s first photos.
The key to being a successful parent is preparation.
You baby doesn’t come with instructions, so we’re here to help. We have childbirth preparation classes for new parents and refresher classes for not-so-new ones. Other classes include newborn care and infant safety and CPR, as well as classes for dads, siblings and even for grandparents.
Our commitment to breastfeeding includes our breastfeeding prep class and a breast pumping class. Our outpatient lactation clinic is available for additional guidance and support after mothers are discharged.View Classes

Infertility treatment options at Medical City Plano
When you can't get pregnant, it seems like everyone else can. But you're not alone. As many as one in 10 couples fail to conceive within six to 12 months of trying, according to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Medical City Plano can help. About 90 percent of infertile couples have a problem that can be treated with a variety of diagnostic procedures, including:
- Lab work to test for hormone irregularities that could interfere with fertility
- Ultrasound imaging to determine if a woman is ovulating
- Hysterosalpingography, an x-ray to show blockages in the fallopian tubes or uterus
- Laparoscopy, an outpatient procedure to look for a condition called endometriosis or pelvic scarring, which could prevent pregnancy
A urologist can also help determine whether the male partner has enough sperm and if they can swim freely. Most of the time, our doctors can treat infertility with drugs or minor surgery. At Medical City Plano, we offer oral and injectable fertility medications that stimulate ovulation, as well as intrauterine insemination (also known as "artificial insemination").
Skin-to-Skin Contact for C-Section Patients
Medical City Plano is allowing immediate, skin-to-skin contact between moms and newborns brought into the world via C-section.
There are numerous documented benefits associated with immediate skin-to-skin contact, including regulating body temperature and heart rate, controlling anxiety, and an increased chance of successful breast feeding.
